The National Skills Challenge - from 8th March 2008
The 'Get Into Golf' National Skills Challenge has been developed for young golfers and is designed to be
challenging at all levels, but above all it is intended to be FUN.
The Challenge covers 5 golfing disciplines, putting, chipping, pitching, bunker play & full swing -
each discipline has 2 Challenge activities, making 10 in total.
It is hoped that these challenges will encourage junior players to improve their golf, increase their enjoyment
of the game and encourage them to practice the skills required to complete each test. Frequent and structured
coaching will allow juniors to develop as players and increase their overall Challenge results. It is
recommended that these challenges are undertaken in conjunction with a structured coaching programme.

The Faldo Series - 2008
Every year Rye Hill aims to include it's young golfers in the Faldo Series.
Nick Faldo established the Faldo Series in Europe in 1996 to bring opportunities to young people through golf and to help identify and nurture the next generation of champions. HRH The Duke of York lends his support as president.
Part of The Faldo Trust for Tomorrow's Champions (charity number 1102719), the Faldo Series now provides opportunities for 1,200 talented young golfers each year and simultaneously introduces the game to many more.
With 30 tournaments each year, leading young golfers from Europe, male and female aged 11 to 21, have the opportunity to experience top-level competition at a varied selection of some of the world's championship venues. They also benefit from a series of educational seminars on topics ranging from tournament preparation to diet and fitness, from sports psychology to public speaking, enabling them to develop an all-round knowledge of the sport.
At the same time, younger children from the local community have the opportunity to attend Faldo Series tournaments and experience golf for the first time, both as spectators and participants. For those children who develop an interest, development programmes are made available in conjunction with golf's governing bodies.
60 players qualify for the prestigious Faldo Series grand final, hosted each year by Nick at The Celtic Manor Resort in South Wales, home of the Faldo Series and Ryder Cup venue 2010.
The leading finalists play with Nick following the grand final. They are also invited to compete in the annual Faldo Series Asia grand final on the Faldo course at Mission Hills Golf Club in China, home of the Faldo Series Asia and officially the world's largest golf resort.
Team Faldo is a group of current and former Faldo Series players, amateur and professional, who receive additional support and advice from Nick. These protégés are hand-picked by Nick and invited to spend time with him both in the USA at one of his Faldo Golf Institutes by Marriott and in the UK at the home of Team Faldo, The Celtic Manor Resort.
The Faldo Mini Series is for children under 12. Those playing in a registered Faldo Mini Series event on a par 3 or pitch-and-putt course have the chance to attend the Faldo Series grand final and meet Nick.
Now in its 11th season, past Faldo Series winners include European Tour stars Nick Dougherty, Marc Warren and James Heath; Asian Tour player Yasin Ali; Ladies European Tour professionals Anna Highgate and Kiran Matharu; and the youngest ever Walker Cup player Oliver Fisher. All have benefited from Nick's personal advice and experience and all are now role models to the next generation.
Underwritten by Nick, the Faldo Series is supported by the European Tour, the PGA and The R&A, together with a number of brands, businesses and individual patrons.
